Los Angeles, 1995.

Music comes through the car radio, careers are made in clubs, and a hit record can change your life overnight. Before streaming, radio programmers and record executives held the keys to success. Before smartphones and social media, what happened behind closed doors was much easier to keep there.

Welcome to Decade, a novel by Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Glen Ballard, inspired by the 1990s music industry.

At the heart of the story is Tajon Collins, a limousine driver whose passengers have money, access, and the freedom to behave without consequences. He knows their habits, and keeps their secrets. Among them is Charlie Major, a charismatic radio promoter who is both his client and his friend.

Then, Tajon falls for Pax, a gifted young singer struggling with addiction as her career begins to take off. Nellie Thorne, the ambitious, unapologetic executive overseeing her rise, has plans for her. With Tajon, Pax begins imagining a life beyond those plans.

Around them, deals, parties, and private desires become increasingly entangled—until a murder forces Tajon to decide whom to protect and what to conceal.

Seductive, funny, and dangerous, Decade moves through a music industry at the height of its power, with an unexpected love story at its heart. The music that follows sets the mood for that world, and the lives caught up in it.
